…was one of the best pups ever. He was like a son to my dear friends, Billy and Joanna. He’d been ill for quite some time, and although I wasn’t really shocked when I heard my voice mail today that he is now in a “better place”, I am deeply saddened. He will be missed by his extended family. RIP Chuckles.
Those of you who think that knocking on doors at an ungodly hour to tell me and others that their “belief system” is in some way better than mine, thinking it is an act of kindness, are simply mistaken. It is rude and repugnant. I have no interest in sharing my spirituality [or lack thereof] with you. Furthermore, I have no interest in having you share yours with me. Thank you in advance for respecting my privacy.
After reflecting on my grumpy blog, posted above, I’ve decided to join the Jehovah’s Witness Protection Program. This is an organization that moves you around to secret locales, so when those annoying folks come knocking on your door, no one is home. :-)
The news that Bush pardoned two turkeys, in order that they live the remainder of their lives in Disneyland, surprised me at first. I thought surely Cheney and Rumsfeld were the pardonees, well in advance of charges of war crimes being filed against these felons. Not so. I can wait.
It’s been thirty years and I’m still pissed at Gerald Ford, a go along to get along Congressman who had NO bills pass in his name during the 38 years he “served” in the House, for letting Nixon skate. These are scum bags. All of them.
Today, Thanksgiving, is a joyous holiday for us all. Well, not quite all of us. I’m guessin’ that there may be a Native American [or two, at least] not partaking in the festivities. Ya think?
…is starting to heat up. Every baseball fan thinks that he or she can do a better job than the people running their favorite team. I’m no exception. Omar Miniya, the Mets G.M. made two key moves yesterday that suck. First he let Glavine become a free agent. With Martinez a question mark, unless he has Zitto in the bag and a trade in place for Milledge, one can kiss the 2007 Met season adios. Signing Alou? Yes he speaks Spanish [a new requirement, it seems, in Metsville and that’s bueno], but he literally tripped over the foul line in right field for the Giants this past year and not only is he not able to field anymore, he’s old and brittle [much like my dear self]. Milledge will not develop as a part-timer and Si [hugo?] Green and Perez are not the answer. Now, Omar is a graduate of Newtown High School in Elmhurst, N.Y. This is where Yours Truly learned to spell. Therefore, I’ve cut him some slack these past few years and trusted that he knew what he was doing when he didn’t go for some pitching at the trade deadline… Oh yea, nice a.b., Beltron…grrrr. As you may know, being a Mets Fan has been a “mixed bag” for these past 45 years.
…is “bitter-sweet”…He respects Alou and admires his clutch hitting, but Cliff Floyd is a “father figure” to him. One can’t underrate the role that chemistry plays in team sports. Omar has done a great job thus far in that regard and I just hope things don’t get messed up. Soriano would have looked good in a Mets uni. and Barry Z. WILL look good in said laundry. Is it spring yet? I want my baseball back… As the man said [Tim McCarver?], “God I love this game.”
..a book written by Mark Satin, most closely reflects my political ideology these days. It’s an easy read that not only identifies just how polarized our country has become, but offers some practical solutions. Let me know what you think.
Here’s a picture of Mark that I took for his fine website.
..announced this morning that “we can’t win the war in Iraq”… No shit, Sherlock…
As an aside, when Mr. K was in power his goal was to keep Iran and Iraq fighting each other. Sounds good to me. American troops [dupes] home. Iran vs. Iraq. Has the makings of a festive Jewish Holiday. From your mouth to God/ess’s ears, Hank.
When, shortly after voting machines in Ohio went “south” and ‘W’ stole yet another election, my fellow Socialist/Activist buddy announced that he was now “one of them”. Pardon?. “Yes, Republicans are winners and Democrats are losers. I’m a winner. Whatever they’re doing, they win elections. I think that the Bush-Cheney way is good for the country…blah, blah, blah…” On he went for weeks. First becoming a R.O.T.C. at Cal. and marching around like a clown [a redundancy], spouting the G.O.P. “party line” and covering his being in polyester button-down shoits that barely hide the “Jimmy Dean” tee-shirt [the one that defined his image before his “conversion”]. When he shaved his 20 year old beard and started “looking the part”, I nicknamed him ‘Ron Cohen’, after his new hero, Reagan [a shell and a prop] and the self-hating McCarthy lawyer [an evil horrible man]…
Now that *we* won our country back, can you come home, ol’ pal, Jeremiah Duboff [of “open letter” fame]? I like to think that you didn’t loose your heart… just misplaced it.
Did you look under the couch?
…brought the 49ers to the table with the City of San Francisco. Not Nancy Pelosi. I sit corrected.
…about the leadership abilities of Nancy Pelosi were dispelled for me when said heroine brought 49er ownership and The City of San Francisco to the table within 24 hours of the “adios and ya momma” parting of the ways announcement by Dr. York, his wife’s [she’s Eddie D’s sister] husband and keeper of the gelt. You go girl… Ah, you know what I mean. Some of my best friends are girls. hehe.
