Welcome Back to the Mets, Guillermo Mota

June 1, 2007 at 10:05 am (Baseball, New York Mets)

Just the other day the Met’s bully was strengthened considerably by the return of Guillermo Mota. He’d been suspended [he needed a vacation anyway after *playing* winter ball with his connects] for all of 50 days for testing positive for performance-enhancing drugs. His “punishment” included a two year contract extention for some ungodly multimillion dollar figure [some gelt for HGH for which they’re not testing, perhaps?]

I query thee:

We’re talking about a middle inning relief pitcher here. An average major league player, not some homerun hitting freak show. Since it’s being proven [Velarde and Grimsley are names that come to mind] that Barry and Sammy aren’t the only ones using, should they not be cut just a tad o’ slack?

Shouldn’t Senator Jim Bunning add Manny Mota [Guillermo’s dad has been around as long as anyone except Julio Franco] to his list of witnesses?

Wouldn’t having raisin-size gonads be punishment enough?

Shouldn’t just the expression “raisin-size gonads” be a deterrent? [It is for me.]
