From Jack Cust to Joe Hardy and Back

June 5, 2007 at 12:48 am (Baseball)

After a torrid start with the A’s when Billy Beane picked him off the scrap heap to fill in for Mike Piazza, Jack Cust has fizzled [batting .227 as I peck]. I’m reminded of Randy Elliott, Mike Vail, Chris Shelton and Bob “Hurricane” Hazel.

Just a few of baseball’s legendary “shooting stars.”

[Joe Hardy of Damn Yankee fame had a “devil” of a streak with Gwen Verdon, whose legs went all the way up to her mezzanine level.]
