Here’s a link to an article in Wikipedeia about Kittatinny’s most famous alum, Jerome Robbins.jeromerobbins_full1

I wonder if he graced the “Midget Playhouse” on Pioneer Row. This picture was from my first year at camp, 1953.

This is very interesting. At the 1999 KLC reunion in Horsham, Pa one of the older people there was at KLC with Jerome Robbins nand gave this sketch of his activities. Apparently during the nap or rest hour he would disappear for an hour or so and then rerturn. No one knew where he went at the time. It turns out he was taking ballet lessons (remember he was pre teen or just teenaged) but at the time that kind of activity was not looked upon by the male gender as “manly”. It is so significant because many of the leaders in the arts today had the same exclusionary settings during their youth but pursued them anyway.
it remains a lesson to pass on to our children and grandchildren to do what makes them happy and fulfilled (within the law , of course) and to support them in their pursuits. It is truly spectacular what may occur in the future of these young people with the right support and encouragement.

Amen, Dick.. I was Mr. Mom for the first five years of my son’s life. There were folks [family] who had a hard time with the traditional role reversal. In turn, I had a hard time with their closed minded, idiotic ideology.
